Saturday nights were something to look forward to in my household. Every Saturday evening, around 9:30, my mom and I would tune into Nickelodeon to watch the latest episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark, a horror anthology show marketed towards kids. Even though I would walk away from the show each week being scared out of my mind, I absolutely loved the show and as a 31 year old, I can honestly say it is truly one of my favorite TV shows of all time. I currently own the first five seasons of AYAOTD featuring the original Midnight Society on DVD and was very excited when I heard that there was going to be a CAMPFIRE COMPANION coming out featuring interviews with the show's creator, directors and actors. The book is well worth the price. The author is so passionate about the subject matter and that makes the journey of reading it even more fun. What I liked most were commentaries after each episode recap. As someone who has several favorite episodes of this series it was quite pleasing to get the opinion of someone else who is equally if not more passionate about the series. My only gripe is that the author did not enjoy the episode The Tale of the Quicksilver as much as I did but maybe that's because I had such a huge crush on Tatyana Ali growing up. Overall, if you love this series as much as I do, this is a must-have. It looks quite nice nestled next to my DVD box sets of AYAOTD.

This is a well written book that is very detailed and helps the reader understand the back story of" AYAOTD?". It has an introduction by the co-creator D.J. MacHale and its so interesting to learn about his thoughts on the series. Every chapter explains the episodes from each season and gives the authors review of each episode. The author, Jose Prendes, even provides fun trivia from each episode and the there are even rare behind the scene photos from the sets.This is a great children's TV series and I'm glad the DVD's for the first 5 seasons were released. I may be biased but I don't think they make these types of shows anymore. A show that has children using their imagination to create fantastic tales of mystery and horror...Wow! Seems more like a show for adults. This book is a fine addition to my" AYAOTD?" DVD collection.

I really do love AYAOTD? with all of my heart. And it goes without saying that this is one of the finest things I've ever read. I loved the interviews, as well as the opinions (though they differ very much from my own). Although I bought this on kindle I'm most certainly going to buy a hardcover copy as well.

Awesome book, lots of fun facts. A must for any real fan.
